[Men's & Women's Cross Country] Cross Country Teams Run well against NCAA DI and DII Opponents

Comments

(Lansing, MI) – The Concordia cross country teams competed at the Spartan Invitational over the weekend against many well known NCAA DI and DII opponents.  The race was held at Forest Akers Golf Course in East Lansing Michigan.  Both teams ran well against the tough competition.  There were no team scores for the event.

Leading the men's team for the third race in a row was junior Alex Kitchin (Flushing, MI/Flushing HS).  Alex ran a personal best of 27:57 for the 8km distance which was good enough for 178th/400. Alex is creeping up on the All-Time Top 10 list at Concordia. Currently he is 11th on the list. Other great runs were put in by freshman Brandon Crayne (Riverview, MI/Monroe County CC) who ran in his first cross country race and sophomore Andrew Gardner (Scotts, MI/Vicksburg HS) who ran over a minute faster than last year at this meet.

On the women's side freshman Brie Schofield (Belleville, MI/Belleville HS) led the Cards with a 136th/377 place finish running 24:51 for the 6km course. Other great performances were put in by fellow freshman Sidney Bosley (Canton, GA/Creekview HS) and Kelsey Riley (Milford, MI/Lakeland HS) as well as junior Delisia Morris (Ypsilanti, MI/Ypsilanti HS) all of whom ran personal bests.

Both teams will be off for a few weeks as they focus on training and getting ready for the Lansing Invitational held at Grand Woods Park in Lansing Michigan.
