[Women's Cross Country] Cards Finish Season Strong with 4 Personal Records & a WHAC Runner ...

Comments
(Saturday November 6th, Grand Rapids, MI) - The women's cross country team had their final race of the season Saturday, competing in the WHAC Championship at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids. It was a great day for the ladies as four Cardinals had PRs, or personal records for the day. Leading the women was sophomore, Marion Rodriquez with a time of 20:44, placing 32nd overall. Rodriguez is now 7th all-time in Cardinal History and also was the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Women's Runner of the Week this past week as she finished 3rd overall in the Concordia Fall Classic.  To view the full article on the WHAC Runner of the Week click on the link below.

The Cards next runner to cross the line was freshmen, Molly Rathje in a time of 22:02, which is her PR for the season. Next to finish was junior, Corinne Kuclo with her PR of 22:13. Next up was junior, Chloe Metcalf with her personal best of 22:45. Following closely behind Metcalf was junior,Jeni Bollenbacher with her best time of the season, 22:58.

"It was a great day to run," said Coach Steve Montgomery. "There was a nip in the air, the course was flat and fast, and the ladies responded," he added. "All but one of the women had PRs and even the non-pr was her second fastest time of the year." Montgomery said, "I am extremely pleased with all of our performances today, particularly those of Kuclo and Metcalf. These two took about three minutes of their times from the beginning of the season to the end. That is remarkable! Also, all the women worked very hard all season and were very dedicated. It was great to have all of their hard work pay off today. This is a very satisfying way to end the season."

Additionally, Kuclo and Bollenbacher were named to the WHAC Scholar Athlete All-Academic Team for the Cardinals.  Kuclo was also honored as a Champions of Character athlete.
